Wheat beer is a beer, which is brewed with a higher percentage of wheat than is usual to the ratio of malted barley and it is usually top-fermented.

Wheat beer is not considered a traditional beer in Britain. However, it has become more popular recently possibly due to people tasting it while abroad on holiday.

The main two varieties of wheat beer are a German – "white beer" and a Dutch – "white beer”, which is inspired by the Belgian tradition of using flavourings such as coriander and orange peel.

The German method is to mix at least half as much wheat to barley malt this makes a lighter coloured top-fermenting ale.

Belgian white beers are mostly made with raw wheat which is unmalted, which is different from the malted wheat used in other types.
