Home brew cider kits made from apples is the original flavour of cider.
A hard Apple Cider Making Kit is made by crushing apples to make juice and then allowing it to ferment.
Cider comes in various types – still, naturally sparkling, bottle-fermented, champagne, carbonated, dry, medium, sweet, ice cider, brandy, acidic, tannic, and wild yeast fermentation.
What is traditional cider?
English traditional ciders are made with bitter, sharp apple varieties grown for cider making. These ciders are usually fermented and aged in wood barrels, which add depth and character to the flavour.
Real cider is made using 100% pure juice from fresh apples. The natural yeasts from the apple ferment, causing the apples to produce CO2 and alcohol, and the cider is then allowed to mature.
Apples are the recognised traditional fruit used to make cider and are used to make the main base of the beverage.
Does cider have to be made from apples?
Although apples and pears are the most common fruit, ciders can also be made from strawberries, peaches, plums, etc.
If apple juice is left unpasteurised and unrefrigerated, the cider will start to ferment naturally and turn itself into hard cider.
