Fuggles hop leaf 100g

Fuggles is also grown in Washington and Oregon, but the USA version is milder than the UK version.

They are primarily used for aroma and flavour.

Styrian Goldings and Fuggle hops are also grown in Slovenia—light Vacuum Nitrogen Flush Pack for Maximum Flavour.

Fuggles hops are another classic variety commonly used in brewing, especially in English-style ales. Like East Kent Goldings, Fuggles hops are named after the region in which they were originally cultivated. Fuggles hops have a distinct flavour and aroma profile, making them a staple in many traditional beer styles.

Here are some critical characteristics of Fuggles hops:

  1. Aroma Profile: Fuggles hops are known for their mild and earthy aroma, often accompanied by floral and woody notes. The aroma is generally more subdued compared to some other hop varieties.
  2. Bittering and Flavor: Fuggles hops are typically used for bittering and flavouring in beer. They contribute a smooth and balanced bitterness to the finished product.
  3. Traditional Use: Fuggles hops are commonly used in English-style ales, such as bitters, porters, milds, and stouts. Their aroma and flavour qualities complement these styles well, adding a touch of authenticity and tradition.
  4. Substitutes: Fuggles hops have several subvarieties and similar hop types. East Kent Goldings, which we discussed earlier, and Styrian Goldings are often considered substitutes for Fuggles hops, although they may have slightly different aroma profiles.
  5. Growing Regions: Fuggles hops were initially cultivated in England but have grown in other regions, such as the United States and Europe.

Fuggle and Golding, are celebrated for their contribution to the character of classic English ales. Brewers appreciate their subtle and nuanced aromas, making them an integral part of the craft of brewing traditional beer styles.
